As many as eight persons were injured in a shooting incident that took place at a mall in Wisconsin on Friday, said police.
According to Wauwatosa Police Department, on November 20 at around 2:50 pm, Wauwatosa Police Dispatch received 911 calls reporting a shooting incident at Mayfair Mall near the Northwest entrance to Macy’s. Wauwatosa Police officers and Wauwatosa Fire Department personnel responded. When emergency personnel arrived, the shooter was no longer at the scene of crime. As many as eight persons, including seven adults and one teenager, injured in the incident were rushed to hospital by Wauwatosa Fire.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are assisting with clearing the Mayfair Mall property. Those who are seeking to reunify with anyone who was at Mayfair Mall should go to the reunification area, located at the At Home store, 3201 N. Mayfair Rd, added Wauwatosa Police Department.
“Preliminary statements from witnesses indicate that the shooter is a white male in his 20’s or 30’s. Investigators are working on determining the identity of the suspect,” stated the police.
The police further said that Mayfair Mall remains close and will be close until further notice. The crime scene is active and we ask members of the public to remain away from the area and be patient so that our law enforcement personnel may secure the scene and investigate.
“Law enforcement personnel continue to safely clear Mayfair Mall, and are assisting those inside with safe exit. We ask the community to remain patient as we secure the scene and gather info related to the suspect. Anyone with info should contact the Wauwatosa PD at (414) 471-8430,” tweeted Wauwatosa Police.
Preliminary investigation has led us to believe that this shooting was not a random act, and was the result of an altercation. We will continue to work diligently to interview the many witnesses, as well as the victims who were injured, to identify and apprehend the suspect, the police tweeted.
