Over half a dozen of passengers feared drowned as an LCT ferry boat of Rajmahal-Manikchak ferry service overturned near Manikchak Ferry Ghat, West Bengal, on late Monday evening. Eight big trucks also reported have overturned into the river Ganges.

Rajmahal Station House Officer and Manikchak Police team reached on the spot. The LCT Boat had set off from Rajmahal Ferry Ghat to Manikchak on Monday evening. It had 9 heavy vehicles and over two dozen passengers onboard. The Boat suddenly got imbalanced at the Manikchak ferry ghat and overturned into the water. The passengers and vehicles drowned in Ganga.

The boat lost balance while it was unloading a 14-wheeler trailer. Fast river torrent was also one of the main reasons behind the boat losing balance. Many people swam to safety, but a lot of them couldn’t make it to the shore.
