A mob of cattle smugglers and criminals attacked a woman reporter who had went to report on illegal cow slaughtering going on in the area at Pension Mohalla of Hassan district of Karnataka.
The accused Hassan Babu and Rehman were running unauthorized abattoir. They are both cattle smugglers and notorious criminals. Over 100 cattle were stuffed in their abattoir.
The woman journalist was attacked when she along with animal-lovers and the police team tried to reach five cattle hoarding places. As they tried to rescue the animals by opening the abattoirs, a mob attacked them. The mob also molested the woman journalist and threatened her of dire consequences if she doesn’t leave the place immediately.
The team, however, managed to rescue a few animals while Hassan Babu and Rehman hid the others. An FIR was registered at Arasikere Town Police Station against the accused men. The area of Arasikere Town came under the scanner when several tons of animal carcass and waste was dumped out in the open.
