International Institute of Information Technology Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) welcomed its first year BTech batch virtually this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The 3-day Orientation Programme was attended by 170 students apart from faculty members and staff. The event commenced with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the online address by the Vice Chancellor and Director, Dr Pradeep K Sinha. The 3-day program is designed to cover detailed insights about IIIT-NR culture, academics and administration & personality development.
In his inaugural address, Dr Pradeep K Sinha, Vice Chancellor and Director, said that this year we are organizing the orientation in online mode. In line with the current requirement, due to the pandemic, all the activities have gone online and we feel that the new students are also getting used to the new normal right from the day one. He welcomed students & parents for this three-day orientation program and also congratulated students for selecting the premier institute like IIIT Naya Raipur. He further said that the students who got selected in this institute are the few privileged one and the success in achieving the seat in this institute is now a history from today and the students need to set new goals in your life”
Thereafter, a virtual tour of campus was presented to the students through the screening of a video. Senior Students and Alumni of IIIT Naya Raipur also shared their experience and inspired the students with their experiences of four years.
During the Second half of the program, Dr Sinha shared the culture and values of the institute, Dr Amit Agrawal shared the data regarding the training and placements and companies visiting the campus for placements. Dr Punya P. Paltani, Dean, (R&D) shared information about the infrastructure facilities available at IIIT Naya Raipur and Mr Harish Kumar, Assistant Registrar, discussed about the Institute Anti-Ragging policy.
Second day of the program started with the presentation on academics by Dr Rajarshi Mahapatra, Dean (Academics) followed by presentation on research and innovation by Dr. Punya P. Paltani, Dean (R&D). Dr Sinha, Director and Vice Chancellor motivated the students through his talk on expectation and challenges before the 21st century engineers, followed by session by Dr Maifuz Ali on project based learning and session by Mr Ajit Roy on library rules and facilities.
In the end, an Open House Interaction session was held to address the queries of the new students, in which the parents and students interacted with Senior administrative officials of the institute.
