A meeting of the District Excise Advisory Committee was held Saturday under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr S Bharathi Dasan to discuss issues related to the operation of retail, Indian and foreign liquor shops in the financial year 2021-22.
The members of the Committee and the Collector directed the Excise Department Flying Squad to carry out continuous inspection and take concrete action on illegal liquor sale. Similarly, in the meeting, it was said that strict action should be taken against those who sell liquor at rates higher than those prescribed by the government. It was said in the meeting that local people should be given priority on the job of salesmen in liquor shops.
Raipur North MLA and Chairman, Chhattisgarh Housing Board, Kuldeep Juneja, Dharsinwa MLA Anita Yogendra Sharma, Ambika Yadu Mayor Birgaon Municipal Corporation, Pankaj Sharma and nominated public representatives of the urban and rural bodies of the district gave their suggestions.
Other issues like opening and closing of shops, rate of excise duty, storage, etc. were discussed in the meeting.
