Over Rs 766 crore Goods and Services Tax due on 103 companies of Chhattisgarh has been exposed. The GST Raipur Commissionerate has revealed the data related to arrears to be paid by the companies in reply to an RTI application filed by RTI activist Sanjay Thul.
The name of companies provided by the GST Office in response to the RTI application includes some big names such as Jindal Steel and Power Limited which has due of Rs 91.91 crore. All the companies have due more than Rs 1 crore. The highest Rs 91.91 crore belongs to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. Similarly, other companies engaged in manufacturing of power and steel have arrears over Rs 500 crore, according to the RTI information on November 11, 2020.
The list of companies, which have to pay over Rs 1 crore, are engaged in Tabacco product manufacturing, Rolling Mills, Garment companies, Hoteliers, Catering, Infrastructure business, transport business, steel and power manufacturing business, Sponge and Power Companies, Public Sector telecom company, construction companies, mall management companies, energy and mineral companies, textiles companies, automobile companies etc.
Central Public Information Officer/Deputy Commissioner Neeraj Dubey furnished the abovementioned information in response to the RTI application.
The list of companies which have to pay big amount are MP Tabacco Ltd, Durg (Rs 49.63 crore), R K Transport Company (Rs 14.66 crore), Jagdamba Power and Alloys Ltd (Rs 10.27 crore), Rajendra Steel Limited (Rs 7.21 cr), Sarda Energy and Minerals Ltd (Rs 15.56 crore), Gupta Infrastructure (Rs 10.47 crore), Krishna Iron Strips& Tubes Pvt Ltd (Rs 8.61 crore), Uniworth Textiles Ltd (Rs 18.91 crore), Bagadiya Brothers Pvt Ltd (Rs 12.31 crore), Sky Automobiles (Rs 8.39 crore), Chhattisgarh Samvad (Rs 23.87 crore), Essar Steel India Ltd (Rs 48.92 crore), Deepa Construction (Rs 5.67 crore), Nibi Steels Ltd (19.40 crore), ACC Ltd Jamul (Rs 25.47 crore), Topworth Steels Pvt Ltd (Rs 5.28 crore), BSBK Pvt Ltd Bhilai (13.01 crore), SAIL BSP (Rs 9.25 crore), Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (Rs 14.94 crore), Raipur Development Authority (Rs 44.29 crore and Rs 37.10 crore), Sane Enterprises (Rs 8.31), Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (Rs 11.62 crore), National Construction Co (Rs 23.54 crore) and National Construction Company SECL, Raigarh (Rs 13.29 crore).
Balco Aluminium Co Ltd, Hira Industries Limited, Jailswal Neco Industries Limited, General Manager, BSNL, Fafadih Chowk, Raipur, Godawari Power and Ispat Ltd are other prominent names in the list of arrears.
