Pfizer and BioNTech have applied for emergency use authorization of its Covid vaccine in India as the United Kingdom is prepping up for emergency usage of the vaccine which the company claimed to have an efficacy rate of 95 per cent.

Pfizer has applied with the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the emergency use authorization for the vaccine. The Company has also sought a waiver on clinical trials from Government. The only factor which may impede in a wider distribution of Pfizer vaccine is its requirement to be stored at -70 degree Celsius. It’s yet to be seen how many cold storages could maintain that low of a temperature.

The UK is bracing up to roll out the vaccine from December 14, 2020, while China has also inoculated over a million people, which is a questionable move since China claimed to have contained the Coronavirus.  The UK Government has secured 40 million doses, which is enough for 20 million people with two-dose each.

The Chinese provincial governments have also started advance booking of the indigenously developed vaccine. The Chinese vaccine requires a much easily manageable temperature from -2 to -8 degree Celsius.
