Raipur Police have arrested two persons, including a woman, in connection with alleged trafficking and sexual exploitation of minor girl.
The arrested accused were identified as Vijay Bahadur Khenger (41), a native of Uttar Pradesh, and a woman, added Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Tarkeshwar Patel.
“Based on the statement of the 14-year-old girl, who was rescued by Tilda-Neora Police from Uttar Pradesh, the accused duo was arrested by police. The arrested persons were produced in a local court here from where they were sent to judicial custody,” said ASP Patel.
ASP Patel further elaborated that a police team, which was probing the abduction of the 14-year-old girl reported in January 2019, rescued the minor girl from UP on December 5 this year. In her statement to police, the victim girl alleged that she was sold to Vijay Bahadur by her mother at Rs 20000. Later, she was taken to UP, where the accused married her and exploited several times. In the due course, the victim turned pregnant and gave birth to a girl child.
Based on the statement of the minor girl, police arrested Vijay Bahadur and the woman, added police sources.
In this connection, police have registered an offence under Sections 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave), 370A (exploitation of a trafficked person), 376 (punishment for rape) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, informed ASP Patel.
