Chhattisgarh runs for pride & self-respect

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel led from the front as Chhattisgarh ran with him as part of Virtual Marathon organised on Sunday morning to mark the completition of two years of Congress government in the state. The Chief Minister took part in the marathon from Balrampur for pride and self-respect of Chhattisgarh people.  Wearing a white T-shirt, the Chief Minister ran and uploaded his photos and videos on social media, encouraging the people of Chhattisgarh to run with him.

Chief Minister Baghel was in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district as part of his 5-day tour of Surguja division.  He took part in this marathon from New Circuit House in Balrampur. People from across the state participated enthusiastically in this virtual marathon.

Cabinet ministers Amarjeet Bhagat, Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Mohammad Akbar, Anila Bhedia and Kavasi Lakhma, Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma, MLA Satyanarayana Sharma, Vikas Upadhyay, Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar and many other Public representatives attended this event and participated with vigour and enthusiasm.

Several bureaucrats including Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain and Director General of Police DM Avasthi, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Kumar Sahoo, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Chaturvedi and Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi also took part in the virtual marathon along with Chief Minister.

Office bearers and members of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association and its affiliated bodies across the state had participated in the Marathon, said association secretary general Gurucharan Singh Hora.

After joining the Virtual Marathon, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that this marathon is a race of pride and self-respect of the people of Chhattisgarh, the pride and self-respect of Chhattisgarh will remain forever.

This virtual marathon was organized for the first time in Chhattisgarh jointly by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department and Public Relations Department of the state government.

In the virtual marathon – thousands of people participated in ‘Run with Chhattisgarh’ organised on the theme of “Baat hey abhiman ke Chhattisgarhi swabhiman ke”.  Over 70 thousand people have registered for the marathon.  People from all parts of Chhattisgarh participated in it.  Children, youth and elderly all ran with great enthusiasm.

The most notable thing about this virtual marathon is that the people of the state participated in it following all the rules of Covid-19. Without any crowd gathering anywhere, people have been following social distancing in their homes, gardens, grounds, roads and other places and are uploading videos of a few seconds or photos on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag # runwithchhattisgarh.

71 thousand people had registered to participate in the event, but by 11 am, more than one lakh people had joined the campaign. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took part in the campaign this morning by joining the virtual-marathon. He uploaded his photos on social media while sporting a Special t-shirt. He further said that the entire state and its zeal is running with me today and motivated others to run too. 

People from all age groups, gender and diverse sections of society participated in the campaign and made it a huge success.
