RAIPUR (Chhattisgarh), Dec 13
A woman in Raipur was arrested for allegedly killing her 38-year-old husband in the city’s Sarona-based BSUP Colony, said police sources.
“Police have arrested Kanchan Shukla in connection with murder of his husband Vijay Shankar Shukla (38), who was found dead at his locked rented house located at Sarona BSUP Colony under D D Nagar Police Station on December 10,” stated ASP (City) Lakhan Patle, elaborating that search is on to nab absconding accused Hariom Kushwaha, a native of Rewa.
ASP Patle informed that on December 10, police have recovered from body of Shukla, a native of UP and working here at a showroom as guard, from his locked rented house. Based on prima-facie investigation, police registered an offence and started recording the statement of the deceased’s neighbour and his colleague. During investigation, police learnt that on December 8, a woman accompanied by a man visited Shukla’s house following which police started collecting Call Detail Record (CDR) of the deceased and his wife Kanchan.
“The CDR analysis revealed the presence of Kanchan in Raipur after which she was rounded-up and subjected to questioning. During interrogation, Kanchan broke down and admitted to killing Shukla with the help of Kushwah,” ASP Patle elaborated.
Police sources averred that after killing Shukla, the accused duo fled the spot and reached Rewa by passing through Bilaspur. To hush-up the entire crime and mislead police, Kanchan along with Kushwaha fabricated the entire story of getting information about Shukla’s murder from a phone call by an unidentified caller. In this connection, police have registered an offence under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
