Durg district captured first position in the three-day Chhattisgarh Junior Athletics Championship 2020, concluded at Kota Stadium in Raipur on Sunday. Similarly, Balod district bagged the second position while Raipur stood third in the championship. As many as 410 athletes from across the state had participated in the championship.
Bhupesh Sahu secured the first position in the 10000 mtrs walk race in the U18 age group of the championship while Kiran and Itesh came second and third respectively in this category. Harlal Mandavi stood first in the 3000 mtrs race in the U-18 age group while Yashwant Sahu and Dhanendra Sahu came second and third respectively.
In the 1500 mtrs race, Yashwant Singh, Harlal and Nishant Giri came first, second and third respectively in the U-18 age group. In girls’ category, Thota, Purnima and Sunita stood first, second and third respectively in the 1500 mtrs race in U18 age group. In the age group of 20, Laxmi, Shanta Dhruw and Pratima Sahu came first, second and third respectively in the 1500 mtres race.
