Disregarding the tribal people’s demand, Kanker Circle Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) SSD Badgaiya on Monday ordered Ganveer Dhammshil to handover the complete charge of the Keshkal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Office to new DFO BS Thakur.
Just a day ago, tribal people from Keshkal region staged a protest outside Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar’s residence. The Forest Minister even gave them assurances that he will take up the issue with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel once he is back from his Surguja visit. But, now the order has proven beyond an iota of doubt that the Forest Minister’s assurance was just that a hollow and meaningless assurance.
The order reads that BS Thakur has marked his attendance at Keshkal DFO Office on December 12, 2020, and reported to Kanker CCF Office regarding the same. Hence, Ganveer Dhammshil was asked to hand-over the charge and give joining at the new post.
The tribal people fear that the development works initiated by DFO Ganveer Dhammshil will be derailed once he leaves the office. The people even warned of blocking the National Highway-30 and the DFO Office, if their demand isn’t met. It would be interesting to see what step the people of forested Keshkal region will be taking next now that the Chhattisgarh Government and Forest Department have brazenly disrespected their opinion and reject their demand.
