AIIMS Delhi Nurses go on an indefinite strike, demands include 6th Central Pay Commission.

Even as the coronavirus cases are still surging in Delhi, Nurses of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi had gone on an indefinite strike to press for several demands with 6th Central Pay Commission as the major one on Monday.

Close to 5000 nurses of the AIIMS Delhi resorted to strike. They want AIIMS takes an immediate note of their demands. The Delhi AIIMS Nurses Union, the administration is recruiting nurses on a contract basis from outside.

AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said almost all of their demands have been fulfilled by the administration and appealed nurses and nursing officers to call off the strike in this time of the epidemic.  

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has appealed nurses to call off the strike or they will have to face the music under the Disaster Management Act. The Ministry was open to the fresh demand and put them to competent authorities for consideration. Hence, it has been requested the AIIMS Nursing Union withdraw the strike as the nation still have to battle against Covid-19 pandemic.
