Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Dec 15
A joint team of Raipur Police and Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Tuesday busted a gang that duped around 50 youths on the pretext of assured appointment in railways.
“With the three members of the gang, the team busted forgery to the tune of around Rs 1 crore. Acting on an input received on RPF’s helpline number ‘182’, the team arrested three fraudsters along with Rs 3 lakh cash and documents containing details of several youths,” said sources in RPF’s SIB.
SIB officer further informed that prima-facie investigation revealed that the accused conmen have collected Rs 2 lakh each from around 50 persons in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states. The arrested tricksters were identified as Krishna Kumar Sahu (50), Santosh Kumar Pal (49) and Luvesh Kumar Sahu (25), all residents of Raipur.
“Based on the received tip-off, SIB Inspector S N Akhtar along with Constable Nirmal Kumar Singh and officials from RPF settlement posts was keeping close watch on the fraudsters operating from Changorabhata area under D D Nagar police station limits and eventually arrested the trio today with the help of local police,” said SIB officials.
The officials further informed that the team has seized a form (printed in the name of Bhartiya Railway Mall Godam Sharimik Sangh), which the conmen were allegedly using as job application form to collect the bio-date of victim.
In this connection, DD Nagar police have registered an offence against the trio under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and probing the matter further.
