A youth in Raipur was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl and extorting Rs 7 lakh by blackmailing her on the pretext of circulating her photographs as well as videos.
Telibandha police have arrested the accused identified has Naveen Vidhani (18) of Raipur for allegedly exploiting a school girl sexually and extorting Rs 7 lakh, said police sources and further added that on the threat of circulating the victim’s photographs and videos, the accused had allegedly raped her several times and extorted the amount.
Police sources informed that a few months back, the accused allegedly raped the victim in a hotel located in the outskirts of Raipur and also captured the entire act. On the threat of circulating the photos and videos, the accused allegedly exploited the victim sexually several times and extorted Rs 7 lakh.
Disappointed by the repeated harassment, the victim narrated the entire ordeal to her parents following which a complaint was lodged with Telibandha police station, added police sources.
Police sources further informed that following the complaint of victim girl, Telibandha police registered an offence against the accused under Sections 376(2)(N) (commits rape repeatedly on the same woman), 384 (punishment for extortion) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been arrested and produced in a local court from where he was sent to judicial custody.
