Raipur, December 17

In protest against the gang-rape of a minor girl in Kawardha district, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members on Thursday staged a massive demonstration at Budha Talab Dharna venue and attempted to gherao the Chief Minister’s official residence. However, the attempt to gherao the residence of the Chief Minister was foiled by the police force.
The ABVP members also strongly condemned the incident in which a 13 years old tribal girl was sent to a Andhra Pradesh against her wish. Similarly, a 14-year old girl was gang-raped in Kawardha on November 22. The police did not even file a FIR on the complaint of the girl. Instead, police told the girl and her family that she had gone with her friends who committed the crime. The ABVP strongly condemned such attitude of the police and the administration in such a sensitive case.
The ABVP also alleged that a 13-year old tribal girl was sent to Andhra Pradesh and she was forced to convert into other religion. Earlier she was brought to Raipur for her better education in an English medium school, said ABVP state secretary Jaiswal. ABVP Mahanagar Mantri Vibhor Singh Thakur said a large number of student wing members had participated in the demonstration.
