Day after School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam put an end to speculations over reopening of schools saying there is meager hope to resume classes in near future, Chhattisgarh Higher and Technical Education Minister Umesh Patel said, on Thursday, universities/colleges are likely to reopen in January, 2021.

“Probably, we are going to start academic activities in the colleges/universities across the state in the month of January, 2021,” said the Minister while talking to The Hitavada on the sideline of an event at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Thursday.

Expressing his concern over the damage done to students in the form of classroom education, the minister said that the government will soon come up with a decision. The reports of vice chancellors seeking suggestions regarding the reopening of colleges and universities are being examined. The minister said that students are also eager to return to classroom teaching.

It is to be mentioned, the higher education department has already initiated measures for the reopening of higher educational institutions in the state. As part of this measure, meeting of vice chancellors and officials are being held at regular interval. Recently, a meeting of University Standing Committee was held.
