Dr Manisha Sinha from Anatomy Department in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur has been awarded Indian Medical Association President Award for her exemplary contribution in conducting adolescent awareness programmes for girls in Raipur.
During a ceremony held on-line from IMA Head Office, New Delhi, National President Dr Rajan Sharma and Secretary-General Dr R V Ashokan conferred the award to Dr Manisha on Friday. She is creating awareness among adolescent girls in Raipur and trained over 2000 girls regarding changes in the body during adolescence. ‘We are trying to increase awareness among girls regarding changes in the body after attaining 15 years of age. It is important for them as they are shy to discuss such personal issues with their family members. It helps them to be healthy and to maintain hygiene in daily life. It also keeps their family safe’, she added.
Professor (Dr) Nitin M Nagarkar, Director, AIIMS congratulated Dr Manisha and hoped that the award will motivate more professionals to come forward and to create awareness among adolescent girls.
