In yet another case of Love Jihad, a Muslim man has been arrested for marrying a Hindu woman in the guise of a Hindu in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. Accused Mohammad Taufiq hid his actual religious affiliation used a Hindu name “Rahul Verma” to get married to a Hindu woman.
Mohammad Taufiq’s real identity was revealed when the woman’s brother posted the wedding photographs on the social media platform. According to the victim’s brother, his family had gone to Lucknow to attend his sister’s marriage, which was on December 10. As he posted some of the wedding pictures of Jaimala rituals on Facebook, some people commented that the groom was not a Hindu. As he investigated further, brother learned that the groom’s real name was Mohammad Taufiq Khan and not Rahul Verma as he had introduced himself to the woman and her family before the marriage. Mohammad Taufiq Khan resided at village Kheddevar under Gursahaiganj Police Station.
Station House Officer Raja Dinesh Singh said Taufiq concealed his religious identity by using a fake name to marry a Hindu woman. They had arrested Taufiq and gave security cover to the victim woman. Taufiq was produced in the court to gave deposition amidst strong security arrangements. Taufiq was booked under relevant Sections of Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance, 2020 and Section 419, 420, 496 and 295 A of Indian Penal Code.
Taufiq claimed to have been working as a realtor, selling and purchasing real estates in Lucknow. There was no one from the family of Taufiq at the marriage function since it inviting family members could have revealed his real identity at the marriage venue itself.
