Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is transferring an amount of Rs. 18 thousand crores to the bank accounts of 9 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25.

This includes 78 lakh farmers of Madhya Pradesh. The work of sending a list of farmers to the central government was essential for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi, added the CM.

The hindrance created in the implementation of the scheme, due to lack of interest by the previous government in this regard, has been eliminated. The names of eligible farmers have been added to the list, said CM Chouhan, elaborating that this auspicious work is being done on Atal ji’s birth anniversary. I

t may be noted that this scheme has provision of giving Rs 6 thousand per year to small and marginal farmers by the central government.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the utility of the scheme has been increased by adding two additional installments of Rs two thousand in it in the interest of the farmers, by making a provision of giving Rs 10 thousand to farmers every year. Prime Minister Modi will interact with farmers and address them in a virtual programme.

In a video conference, before holding the Cabinet meeting today, Chief Minister Chouhan told the ministers that Prime Minister Modi’s address will be broadcast all over the state. This virtual programme of transferring the amount of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi to the farmers will be held at block and panchayat level.

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that Madhya Pradesh government has been continuously working for farmers’ welfare. Initiative was also taken to provide relief amount of Rs.1600 crores to 35 lakh farmers of the state. Under this, funds are being transferred to the farmers’ accounts. This was started on December 18. The amount given now is one third. Necessary arrangements are also being made for payment of next installment.

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that detailed instructions are being given to all collectors regarding the programme. The Chief Executive Officer will coordinate this programme in the blocks. Apart from this, Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Revenue will play important roles. Detailed information about agriculture and farmer welfare schemes of Government of India and Government of Madhya Pradesh will be given.

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that MLAs, MPs will also be present in the programme on December 25 at 11:00 am. The MLAs and ministers should fix their venues by informing the Agriculture Minister. The farmers’ welfare programme will begin with the address of MLAs and MPs followed by the Chief Minister’s address. Thereafter, there will be an address by the Union Agriculture Minister and then Prime Minister Modi at 12 noon. Prime Minister Modi will also give information about the new agricultural laws. Chief Minister Chouhan also asked the ministers to ensure necessary preparations for this programme. He told to ensure coordination at the administrative level to ensure that all programmes are systematically executed.

Ministers should review big projects

Chief Minister Chouhan said that ministers should also conduct regular reviews of the big projects related to the department. Time limit should be kept in mind while implementing projects. He said that he himself is reviewing projects every month. The ministers should conduct monthly reviews and speed up the works. Delay in completion of the works under construction leads to increase in its cost, so they should be reviewed at the Chief Minister and ministerial level.
