The proceedings on the second day of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly were adjourned till 11 am on Wednesday after paying tributes to former Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh Motilal Vora who passed away on Monday at the age of 93. Prior to this, two minutes silence was observed to pay respect to ‘Babuji’ Motilal Vora.
Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi said that Vora was an MLA in undivided Madhya Pradesh, twice Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Vora took up many responsibilities such as Ministry of Health, Civil Aviation in the Central government. Vora devoted his entire life to ideals and principles.
Paying tributes to Vora, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that two days ago, he congratulated him on his birthday. Baghel said that he did not think that he would leave as he was healthy after overcoming the battle of Corona. ‘Babuji’ was continuously devoted to the Congress leadership, said Baghel. The void that has been created by the demise of Voraji is not possible to fill, said Baghel.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Chaubey said that there are some faces in the Chhattisgarh Assembly House who had opportunity to share seats with Motilal Vora ji in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. He was a socialist thinker. He had the experience of Assembly, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
JCC-J MLA Dharamjeet Singh said that Vora ji was a university of politics. He was in a very powerful in party and as well as government, yet he never thought of taking his family forward, said Singh.
State Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said that he had been in contact with him since 1975. “When I used to go to his house, Voraji used to say to Bai (his wife) that Tamradhwaj has come to bring sweets. I kept trying to follow the principles of Voraji.”
Former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that Voraji was the pearl of politics. He used to prevent me from touching his feet, said Dr Singh. “I used to wait for a phone every time I received calls from big leaders in my birthday, it would be for Vora ji,” said Dr Singh.
State Health Minister T S Singhdeo said in the House that his father worked with him.
BJP MLA Brijmohan Agrawal said that Motilal Vora ji’s loss is such a big loss for the country and the state that it cannot be replenished.
State Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that this is a moment of great sorrow for Congress. A picture in which Sonia Gandhi is standing with an umbrella for Motilal Vora shows the elevated personality of Vora ji, he said.
State Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma, MLAs Satyanarayan Sharma, Punnulal Mohile, Amitesh Shukla, Ajay Chandrakar, Narayan Chandel, and Shivratan Sharma also paid tributes to Motilal Vora. Shukla described the death of Vora as end of an era in Chhattisgarh.
