Uttar Pradesh: communal tensions triggered as four Muslim men arrested for gang-raping a minor Dalit girl in Hapur, police have arrested all four accused.

Four Muslim men have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a minor Dalit girl in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Accused identified as Tasleem, Abdul, Rashid and Rehan dragged the girl into a sugarcane field and gang-raped her.

The situation in the area became communally tense after the incident as the accused men belong to Muslim community. Police deployed extra security personnel to quell any untoward incident. Notably, a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Garmukteshwar BJP MLA Kamal Malik met the family of victim and assured of stern action against the accused.

According to victim’s father, the four accused as Tasleem, Abdul, Rashid and Rehan had forcibly taken her daughter into a sugarcane farm and gang-raped her on Saturday. On his complaint, Police have registered an FIR under Section 376D-Gangrape of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
