Raigarh Police safely rescued abducted boy

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Dec 25
A 12-year-old boy was safely rescued from the clutches of armed abductors in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Friday.

“Acting swiftly, police have safely rescued the minor boy, who was kidnapped yesterday from the district’s Dharamjaigarh, by arresting three persons. From the possession of arrested abductors, police have seized three sharp-edged weapons and a two-wheeler used in the crime,” said Raigarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Singh.

SP Singh further informed that the arrested were identified as Vikas Tirkey, Arun Toppo and Rameshwar Majhi, all residents of Raigarh’s Barpali. Vikas was the mastermind of the boy’s kidnapping.

“Last evening, the accused trio abducted the child and took him to the forest close to the village and demanded ransom of Rs 5 lakh from releasing the abducted boy. After being informed about the kidnapping, police launched an extensive search and probe on separate angles. During the course of investigation, police gets some concrete inputs about presence of armed abductors in forest following which a police team was dispatched to the forest and the boy was rescued safely,” SP Singh said.

In their statement to police, the accused trio revealed that they have hatched the abduction plan after turning jobless during the lockdown, added SP Singh.

SP Singh further informed that impressed by the swift action of Raigarh Police, Bilaspur Range Inspector General of Police (IG) Dipanshu Kabra gave a cash reward of Rs 30000 to the probing team. In this connection, an offence was registered with Dharamjaigarh police station under Section 364A (kidnapping for ransom, etc) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
