In another setback of naxal movement in Chhattisgarh, a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) on Monday gunned down two women ultras carrying cash reward in insurgency-hit Dantewada district.
According to information received, two women naxals were killed in an encounter with DRG in a forest between Kalepal and Kakari villages under Kuakonda police station this morning. The slain naxals were collectively carrying a cash reward of Rs 7 lakh. A team of DRG undertaking anti-naxal exercise was attacked by insurgents in the forest following which the security personnel retaliated.
The security personnel undertook search in forest after the encounter, which lasted for about half-an-hour, they recovered bodies of two slain ultras, said police sources.
Police sources further informed that the slain naxals were identified as active members of Malangir area committee member and intelligence head of the area Ayte Mandavi and an intelligence wing member in the same unit Vijje Markam. Mandavi was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh while the government had announced Rs 2 lakh on Markam.
