In a major breakthrough, Mahasamund Police have arrested three persons along with Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) to the tune of over Rs 4.32 lakh.
“Three persons were arrested for allegedly trying to circulate FICN. From their possession, FICN of around Rs 4.32 lakh in denomination of 2000, 500, 200, 100 and Rs 20 were seized,” said Mahasamund Superintendent of Police (SP) Prafull Kumar Thakur.
SP Thakur further informed that the arrested were identified as Tejeshwar Das Manikpuri (21), Yogendra Das Manikpuri (21) and Avinash Phule (23), all residents of Raipur. From their possession, police have recovered counterfeit notes in separate denominations, a colour printer, papers and other articles.
“Following a tip-off about a gang disposing of fake currency, Cyber Cell of the district swung into action and intercepted three persons at NH-53 in Pithora. During interrogation, the trio broke down and admitted to carrying as well as circulating fake currency. In their statement to police, Tejeshwar revealed that he learnt about printing fake currency from social video platform Youtube,” said SP Thakur.
In this connection, an offence against the trio was registered with Pithora police station under relevant Section of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a probe.
