Survey of child labour, children involved in beggary till Jan 25, 2021

In compliance to a letter issued by the State Child Protection Committee, Directorate of Women and Child Development Department Naya Raipur, Raipur District Administration has decided to carry out a survey of child labour and children involved in begging, from December 26, 2020 to January 25, 2021.

Meanwhile, the District Collector Dr S Bharathi Dasan has entrusted the responsibility of the nodal officer to the Commissioners of all the 10 zones of Municipal Corporation of Raipur, the Commissioner of three zones of Municipal Corporation, Birgaon.  Similarly, three Municipality Gobra Nawapara, Tilda-Neora and Arang and four Nagar Panchayats Kharora, Manakamp, Abhanpur, Kurra have been entrusted with the nodal officer and Project Officer. Similarly, for the survey of 4 development blocks and all the 416 gram panchayats in the district, the Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat has been given the responsibility of nodal officer and Project Officer Women and Child Development as Assistant Nodal Officer.

Keeping in mind the plight of child labour, rag pickers, children involved in begging, children who face various types of struggles and challenges daily for their survival, food, water, clothing, shelter and protection, state women and child development department issued letter to collectors for a survey. These children are at serious risk of being subjected to financial, sexual and other forms of exploitation, according to the Department. By identifying and identifying the children of this type, providing them with shelter, providing education and other basic facilities, as well as providing their families with the benefits of various schemes of government, providing training and employment are the objectives of survey work. The Collector has asked the concerned officials to carry out survey work with honesty.
