Andhra Pradesh: Miscreants beheahed an idol of Lord Rama; second such attack on Hindu temples in three months in AP.

In yet another attack on a Hindu temple, an idol of Bhagwan Rama in a hilltop temple has been vandalized in Nellimaria Mandal in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh by some unidentified miscreants.

Attack on Hindu temples increasing in Andhra Pradesh as an idol of Lord Hanuman was also vandalized in Kurnool district in September 2020. The idol of Lord Rama was installed at Bodikonda Kodandarama temple near Ramateerthan village. The miscreants severed the head of the idol from the bust after breaking into the temple. The severed head was thrown in a small pond nearby.

It’s a 400-year-old temple which also has the idols of Maa Sita and Lakshmana. The incident came to light when the temple priest reached there to perform the morning rituals.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Hindu organization representatives from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam district held a protest near the temple, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan vented out anger on the YSRCP Government and suspected the incident was part of a large conspiracy. BJP Leaders Reddi Pevani, Nadikuditi Eswara Rao and Teegala Haranath also demanded a high-level investigation.
