RAIPUR, Dec 30
Three men were arrested by Rakhi police for allegedly raping and impregnating a 16-year-old girl in Nava Raipur, new capital city.
After learning about her pregnancy, the three accused called her on the pretext of fixing her marriage and again sexually exploited her, police said.
The accused identified as Tarun (38), Rajesh alias Raju (27) and Parasram Sahu (48), all hailing from Durg district, were arrested on Tuesday based on the complaint of the victim, said police sources.
They were produced in a local court which sent them to judicial custody, added police sources.
Citing the victim’s statement, police sources informed that on April 20 this year, the accused trio allegedly raped the victim and threatened her of dire consequences if she shares the incident with anyone.
Months after the incident, when the girl told them that she was pregnant, the accused gave her Rs 500 asking her to reach neighbouring Dhamtari on the pretext of solemnizing her marriage. As she reached Dhamtari on December 24, the trio forcefully brought her again to Nava Raipur and sexually exploited her even after she was seven months pregnant.
On Tuesday, she lodged an FIR in this connection following which a probe was launched and the trio was nabbed, added police sources.
Police have registered an offence against the accused trio under Sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 376D (gang rape) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrested were produced in a local court from where they were sent to judicial custody.
