Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) Vice Chancellor Dr S K Patil has been nominated as the President of the Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA) for the year 2021 during a General Meeting of the Association. As president, Dr Patil’s term will be from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. It is worthwhile to mention, Dr Patil is one of the most experienced Vice Chancellors of the country and has also been the Vice President of the IAUA. He has vast experience in successfully administering and managing agricultural education, research and extension. He is a renowned agricultural educationist of the country with progressive and modern ideas.
Professor Patil has done PhD in Soil Science and Agrochemicals and has done post-doctoral research from the International Fertilizer Development Center in the US. He has also served almost one year as the Chancellor of Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu University. Under Dr Patil, IGKV has scaled new heights as far as quality education is concerned. During his tenure, 23 new colleges and 12 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras have been opened and he has made access to quality agricultural education and extension services to remote areas. Due to efforts of Dr Patil, 15 research projects of the university have been awarded the best projects in the country by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Similarly, Krishi Vigyan Kendras have been awarded eight National/Regional Awards by the ICAR for outstanding work.
Dr Patil has experience in formulating policies and plans. He has been the Chairman of the Agricultural Education Task Force in the Chhattisgarh State Planning Commission.
Dr Patil is an international-level scientist and has done research as a long-term visiting scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, Manila, Philippines and at the International Fertilizer Development Center, USA. Dr Patil has been honoured with many awards.
