Khargone District wins Platinum Award for Excellence in Digital Governance
President Kovind Virtually Confers the Digital India Awards 2020

The Pravasi Shramik and Rojgar Setu portals operated by the Department of Labour, Government of Madhya Pradesh have received the Silver Award for ‘Innovation in Pandemic’ category of Digital India Awards 2020 from the President Shri Ram Nath Kovind via video conferencing held at New Delhi on December 30.
These portals have been awarded for facilitating the identification, registration, skilling and employment of migrant and other workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The district Khargone has also bagged the Platinum Award for ‘Excellence in Digital Governance –District category for its district website.
The Union Minister of Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, Secretary (MeitY) Ajay Sawhney and other dignitaries also attended the award ceremony virtually from different locations including Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and Kolkata, Bhopal, and Chennai.
These portals are manifestation of the vision of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to implement such a scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Innovation in Pandemic’ category of Digital India Award felicitates a Government Entity which has developed outstanding and innovative and digital solution to enable the citizens undertake various activities with ease during the time of pandemic in areas like communication, health, education, travel etc. or to ensure continuity of government services.
The Madhya Pradesh Pravasi Shramik Portal and Shramik Seva Mobile App helped in identification and registration of migrant workers and their family members during COVID-19 pandemic. An integrated database of migrant workers created by this portal is being used by government departments and the district administrations for the rehabilitation and welfare of migrant workers.
Through the Rojgar setu portal, efforts are being made to provide employment to migrant and other workers based on their skills and prior experience in their own village and city.
The award category Excellence in Digital Governance – District rewards the accomplishments of the District administration which has displayed exemplary focus on providing comprehensive information to the citizens in the regional language. The district website of Khargone has been awarded for fulfilling citizen centric aspirations of being an authentic and reliable single window information dissemination system. The divyang-friendly website displays important facets of the district like tourism, art, culture, handicraft and access to utilities. Information is available in both English and Hindi languages.
Out of six, MP Bags Two Awards
The Digital India Awards is an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to honour exemplary initiatives and practices in Digital-Governance. The 6th Digital India Awards 2020 have been presented in six categories – Innovation in Pandemic; Excellence in Digital Governance –Ministry/Department; Excellence in Digital Governance- State/UT; Excellence in Digital Governance -District; Open Data Champion; and Exemplary Product. Online nomination process for awards commenced from the 23rd October, 2020 and was open for one month, during which 402 nominations were received. Shortlisting and ranking of the nominations was done by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Shortlisted nominations in each category were presented to a high level Jury under the Chairmanship of Secretary, MeitY to finalize the winners in each category through online presentations.
