UTTAR PRADESH: A Muslim mob allegedly attempted to burn alive a man converted to Hinduism along with his children. The mob locked the man, who had converted to Hinduism, with his children and set the house on fire at Salon area at village Ratason in Raebareli on Saturday night, December 2.

According to the reports, as the mob set house’s roof on fire, children began screaming out of fear. Somehow, the man managed to break open the back door of his home. A strong contingent of police personnel, fire brigade as well as and members of Hindu organizations reached the spot on receiving information about the incident.

Police registered FIR against five people including village Head. All the accused reported to have fled after the incident. According to the information, Village Ratason resident Mohammad Anwar converted adopted Hinduism along with his family around three months ago and changed his name to Dev Prakash Patel and renamed his three sons as Devidayal, Devnath and Durga. His wife died long ago.

After having dinner, Dev Prakash and his kids went to sleep. At around 2.30 am, some people locked the main door from outside and set it ablaze.

Dev Prakash was about to build a temple on his land, which ruffled some feathers in the village. He has accused Tahir, Ali Ahmed, Imtiaz etc of attempting to burn him alive. Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists met the family and also demanded prompt and stringent action against the perpetrators.
