Police claimed to have arrested a youth on charges of outraging modesty of a girl in a locality under Kotwali police station limits of Dhamtari district.
The accused has been identified as Rajkumar alias Kundan Sinha (24), a resident of Saarinagar. On the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim, police arrested the accused. In her complaint, she mentioned that the accused forcefully took her to a field behind Harra Godown on January 1, this year and outraged her modesty, taking advantage of loneliness. An offence was registered against the accused under sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Superintendent of Police B P Rajbhanu directed the Station House Officer to take immediate action on the complaint of the victim.
Meanwhile, a team of police personnel was formed under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Manisha Thakur Rawate for leading the investigation.
Following a tip-off, police nabbed the accused Rajkumar alias Kundan Sinha from Sorid Nagar and interrogation was on. SHO Navneet Patil along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Santoshi Netam succeeded in apprehending the accused. On being interrogated, the accused reportedly confessed the crime. The accused was sent on judicial remand.
