A Maoist leader involved in several attacks on security forces and was one of the most wanted naxals has been arrested by Chhattisgarh police from Bijapur on Sunday.
The arrested Maoist identified as Somlu Kashyap (40), a Maoist leader wanted by police for attacks on security forces and killings, was arrested from a forest near Kokodipara village under Mirtoor police station area of Bijapur district, during a search operation carried out jointly by the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and District Force, claimed police sources.
Kashyap was head of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan, a frontal wing of the Maoists and was involved in altogether six incidents, including killing of two security personnel near Cherli village in 2017 and in the murder of an Auxiliary Constable in 2018, apart from being involved in killings of civilians in Bijapur district, informed the police sources.
