Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation is on the right track to deliver quality textbooks to children. “It has been the expectations of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to ensure quality textbooks for children while keeping in mind cost effectiveness,” said Corporation chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi in his maiden statement after assuming the charge.
Furnishing details about the improvement and efforts made by the Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation for this year, Trivedi said that this time the paper of books will be better than the previous years so that children of government schools will also get books printed on more white papers. He said that this year, paper procurement is taking 90 percent brightness as compared to 85 percent brightness, and 80 percent opacity compared to last year.
This year, the Corporation is buying paper through tender process while complying with the parameters of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). In the past years only 4-5 firms participated in the paper supply tender, whereas 14 firms have participated this year. In the interest of environment this year, the Corporation has decided to use the paper as per the criteria of BIS instead of Virgin Wood paper.
Trivedi said that in the past years, the Corporation used to execute work worth nearly Rs 100 crore annually. This year rate has been reduced and it will save 10 to 20 crore.
The Corporation has reduced the tender rates by negotiating with the printers. Trivedi informed that the paper was taken at the rate of Rs 68900 per tonne last year, this year it is being purchased from the same company at Rs 65990 per tonne.
He said that ex-servicemen have been placed in place of private security agency in the headquarters and related depots of the Corporation.
The Corporation has released the pending incentive amount to be given to the employees, and has also done promotion and time-scale pay scales to the employees of the Corporation.
He said that the Chief Minister wants to improve children’s studies by getting the books published on many subjects related to the state of Chhattisgarh and the Corporation will do this with its dividend amount in the coming years.

The textbook corporation has blacklisted five firms. They are Techno Prints, Raipur, Pragati Printers, Raipur, Ramaraja Printers, Raipur, Shriram Printers, Sharda Offset Printers Pvt.
