DRI seized huge quantity of cannabis in Raipur

In a major breakthrough, a team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested five persons in Raipur (Chhattisgarh) along with cannabis to the tune of around Rs 3.07 crore.

“Acting on a precise intelligence input, the officers of DRI Madhya Pradesh- Chhattisgarh Unit intercepted a truck of Andhra Pradesh registration number in near Raipur (Chhattisgarh) carrying contraband. The truck was carrying 1534 kilogram cannabis to the tune of around Rs 3.07 crore. The major haul of contraband in the vehicle was concealed below organic fertilizer,” said official statement issued by DRI.

According to the official statement, it was difficult for officers to identify the truck in darkness, combined with chilly night of Sunday-Monday. The Truck was coming from Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh and it was being escorted by a pilot car. The consignment of Ganja was going to Rahta in Maharashtra. Total five members of the cartel were intercepted and have been arrested. Further investigation is underway.

In current Financial Year DRI Indore Zonal Unit has made seizure of 5,842 Kgs Ganja, with 21 Arrests, exceeding the quantity of Ganja Seized in previous Financial Year 2019-20, 5672 Kgs with 16 arrests.
