Mahasamund police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a man along with precious stone ‘Diamond’ to the tune of around Rs 10 lakh.
“Acting on precise intelligence inputs, police have arrested a man along with 400 pieces of diamonds to the tune of around Rs 10 lakh. Besides, police have also seized magnifying glass, weighing machines and a mobile handset,” said Mahasamund Superintendent of Police (SP) Prafull Kumar Thakur.
The arrested smuggler has been identified Bharat Bhoi (40), a resident of Mahasamund, informed the SP.
SP Thakur further informed that following a tip-off, police intercepted Bharat near National Highway-53 under Pithora police station limits and during search, police recovered 400 pieces of precious stone. In this connection, police have registered an offence against the accused and probing the matter further.
