Acting on a precise tip-off, a police team in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district of Chhattisgarh intercepted a four-wheeler resulting in recovery of huge quantities of cannabis on Saturday.
“Following an input about cannabis peddling, police intercepted a four-wheeler (CG 07 M 8026) and seized around 200 kilograms of contraband,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Suraj Singh Parihar.
SP Parihar further informed that based on the inputs, police have placed barricades on the possible passages. Meanwhile, a four-wheeler escaped the checking by overlooking the police instruction and headed towards Khodari forest. Fearing police action, peddlers abandoned the vehicle near Khodari forest and escaped. During frisking of the vehicle, around 200 KGs contraband recovered.
“Police have seized the vehicle and launched a probe to collect the details of the four-wheeler’s owner registered number and engine-chassis number,” added SP Parihar.
In this connection, Gaurela police have registered an offence under relevant Section of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and started investigation.
