A 22-year-old youth was arrested in Raipur for allegedly abducting and exploiting a minor girl sexually.
Mandir Hasaud police have arrested a youth identified as Bhushan Kumar Devdas alias Anurag (22), hailing from Mahasamund district, on charges of abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl, informed police sources.
According to police sources, Bhushan Kumar allegedly abducted the minor girl from Mandir Hasaud on January 7 and took the victim to Mahasamund, where he exploited her sexually on the pretext of marriage. Based on the complaint, police launched a search for the minor girl and arrested the accused along with safe rescue of the victim.
“In her statement to police, the victim alleged that the accused exploited her sexually on the pretext of marriage. On the basis of the victim’s statement, police have registered an offence against the accused under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 376 (punishment for rape) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” said police sources, elaborating that further probe in the case is underway.
Police sources further informed the accused was produced in a local court on Saturday from where he was sent to judicial custody.
