An important meeting of poultry farm owners and officials of the department concerned was held at Raipur Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr S Bharathi Dasan.
The District Collector informed in the meeting that no positive cases of bird flu had so far been reported from any part of the state. But positive cases have been confirmed in many states of the country including Chhattisgarh’s neighbouring states, said the District Collector.
The Collector told the poultry farm owners that the government is with them and inform the administration immediately if there are apprehensions. The Collector asked the owners to follow the general guidelines of biosafety standards. He said that for the prevention of bird flu, special cleaning should be done in the poultry firms and immediately information should be given to the District Administration and Animal Husbandry Department about the disease. The Collector asked the official of the Animal Husbandry Department to work in coordination with the concerned department. He issued necessary guidelines regarding preparations to deal with any emergency. Collector asked to dispose of sanitary biogas and biomedical waste properly.
A veterinary department official said that bird flu positive cases have been confirmed in three neighbouring states. A rapid response team has been formed at the district level and the surveillance team is continuously working. He said that the work of poultry farm owners is important in disease control. All the farms will have to cooperate with the administration. Poultry farm operators said they will cooperate fully with the administration and said that they would follow the general guidelines.
