Anarchism unleashed in West Bengal when a truck carrying the Covishield vaccines was held into a traffic jam caused by a protest led by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Siddiqullah Chowdhury against the farm laws on Wednesday.

Chowdhury and his followers had blocked the National Highway-2, which had caused the logjam.  The vaccine truck had to be rerouted to an additional 25 km road. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya posted a video, wherein Chowdhury could be seen wielding a stick and swing/hitting at people who came to clear the roadblock at East Burdwan Galsi.

Notably, batches of Covid-19 vaccines were distributed across the nation from Serum Institute of India, Pune. The trucks were carrying the vaccines which are extremely temperature-sensitive to the cold chain points. The vaccines need to be kept at a very low temperature to ensure its efficacy.
