Raipur, Jan 30
Raipur Police on Saturday busted three godowns of duplicate engine oil in the state capital and unearthed the stocks worth several lakhs.

“Acting on a precise tip-off, a police team from Khamtarai raided three godowns located at Bhanpuri and Birgaon area and unearthed huge quantities of duplicate engine oils as well as packaging material. Preliminary police investigation revealed that the oil of inferior quality was procured from Bilaspur and Nagpur and packed here in the godowns. By using bogus stickers and bottles (largely similar to the branded companies), the inferior quality oil was packed in the godown and distributed in the market,” said Urla City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Parul Agrawal.

The estimated market value of the stocked duplicate oil, stickers of branded companies and bottles would be of several lakhs, said CSP Agrawal, elaborating that the exact value could be ascertained once the investigation will be complete.

Currently, all the three godowns have been sealed, added CSP Agrawal.

CSP Agrawal informed that based on the prima-facie investigation, police have arrested owner of a godown Priyanshu Jain while search is underway to nab Rakesh Panjwani and Naveen Hotwani, who were possessing two godowns and presently on run. In this connection, Khamtarai police have registered an offence under relevant Sections of Copyright Act as well as Trademark Act and probing the matter further.
