In a much needed relief to the students of Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College and Hospital, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday announced that the state government will take over the medical college. He said that all legal formalities required for the takeover of the college will be started soon.
It may be noted that, zero years were declared in the medical college three years back owing to various irregularities, shortage of faculties and infrastructure, erstwhile Medical Council of India, now known as National Medical Commission (NMC), had cancelled the permission for admission of students in MBBS first year in the college from last three years, pushing students’ future into dark.
Even management of medical college had tried to handover this medical college to other private parties but could not succeed and the students who have already got admission and pursuing MBBS and their parents had moved the court seeking government’s intervention to save the future of students. The announcement by the Chief Minister will certainly bring cheers on the face of students and their parents. Many students failed to get admission to a medical college in the state as the number of seats had scaled down after the Medical council had denied permission to the college.
