Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid tributes to late Chandulal Chandrakar on his death anniversary on Tuesday, by garlanding his statue, in a programme organised at Bhilai-3 Bazar Chowk.
In his address, Chief Minister said that Chandulal Chandrakar had played a pivotal role in formation of Chhattisgarh state. He led several movements, held meetings and extensively created public awareness for the formation of Chhattisgarh, said the Chief Minister, adding, Chandrakar had a special vision for development of Chhattisgarh. He always used to talk about the possibilities of horticulture in the state. Today, Durg district is at the top in the production of vegetables and fruits in Chhattisgarh, as a result of late Chandulal Chandrakar ji’s vision, Chief Minister asserted. He had also played an important role in the industrial development of Bhilai. As a sports journalist Chandrakar travelled every nook and corner of the world. He took his state pride everywhere he went. He would always carry the typical khurmi with him even during his foreign trips. He would never forget to take ‘datun’ with him everywhere he went. He was among the top journalists of the country. He had spent a lot of time with Gandhiji during his days at Birla House. Late Chandulal Chandrakar’s contribution in the service of the nation cannot be forgotten.
Chief Minister further said that Chhattisgarh Government’s agriculture-related schemes have reinstated the confidence of farmers in agriculture. This year 92 lakh metric paddy has been purchased, which is a record so far. Chief Minister said that farmers are earning extra income through the Godhan Nyaya Yojana. Earlier farmers used to buy motorcycles by selling paddy, now farmers are also buying motorcycles by selling cow dung. Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is marching ahead on the path of development by following the vision of Chandrakar.
PHE Minister Guru Rudra Kumar said that late Chandulal Chandrakar made an important contribution to the politics of Chhattisgarh. He was instrumental in the creation of Chhattisgarh state. Along with Late Mini Mata ji, he made an incredible contribution to the development of Chhattisgarh, he said.
