Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has found the complaints related to the selection of absent student in written examination of Assistant Professor (Higher Education Department) Examination-2019 for interview, elimination of 105 questions and shortlisting of about 88 candidates for interview, from the same examination center in Durg district, to be baseless. The Commission has said that after the investigation of the complaint related to the selection of absent student in the examination of Assistant Professor, the complaint has been closed as it was found to be baseless. The Commission has further stated that out of 2450 questions, 105 questions were deleted for various reasons, which is a continuous process of any commission or institution. Similarly, the matter of shortlisting 88 candidates from the same examination center is also completely baseless and untrue.
The complaint related to the selection of a Hindi literature candidate with an absent serial number, in the written examination of Assistant Professor (Department of Higher Education) examination organised by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission from November 5, 2020 to November 8, 2020 has been found to be factless after investigation. In this regard, information has been given by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission that the written examination result of Assistant Professor (Higher Education Department) Exam 2019 was released on 19 January 2021. After the declaration of the said examination result, candidate Shri Virendra Kumar Patel had complained about the selection of a candidate with absent serial number in Assistant Professor Hindi literature examination. On the complaint by the candidate, the matter was investigated by the Commission on 01 February 2021 by calling the candidate, the Center Head and observers of the concerned examination center. In the complaint, the candidate had stated that videography was conducted in the examination hall and the candidate behind him remained absent.
In this regard, the Public Service Commission has stated that the roll number of the candidate is 190204103691 and on the basis of the seating plan given by the Center Head and the attendance certified by the observers and Centre Head in the attendance sheet, the serial number behind the complainant was 190904103692 and not 190204103693. There is a clear mention of not having videography done in the room in the statement by the Centre Head and observers. Therefore, on the above grounds, the roll number of the absent candidate is not shown in the written examination result released by the Commission for interview. Candidate with Roll Number 190204103692 is not named in the selection list as he was absent in the examination. The candidate with Roll No. 190204103693 is included in the list marked for interview. Therefore, on the above basis , the complaint has been closed due to it being completely baseless and factless.
Similarly, regarding the elimination of about 105 questions in the Assistant Professor Examination, the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has stated that a written examination for 24 subjects was conducted in the Assistant Professor Examination-2019. In each subject, 100 questions related to the concerned subject and 50 questions related to general knowledge of Chhattisgarh were asked. Thus, there were a total of 2450 questions in the Assistant Professor exam. In these questions, about 105 questions were deleted due to various reasons, which include the cases where the question is wrong or the question is out of the syllabus or all the answer options are wrong or more than one answer option is correct or the Hindi / English translation of the question contains factual variation.
Public Service Commission has clarified that the elimination of questions in competitive examinations conducted by any commission or institution is a continuous process. Efforts are constantly being made to minimize the deletion of the question. In Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission and other Commissions, if there are more than one possible answers to a question in the multiple choice examinations, all the answers are considered as correct there, whereas in Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission only if one answer to a question is correct, the question is accepted as valid. For this reason, the number of deletion of questions is more reflected in the Commission. It is noticeable here that the elimination of questions does not result in any loss of marks to a particular candidate, but the addition of the score of that deleted question to the score of the remaining questions of all the candidates in the examination increases the marks per question.
