Raipur, Feb 5
A Fast Track Court (FTC) in Raipur on Friday convicted a man for molesting a minor girl and sentenced him to two years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI).
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (1st Fast Track Special Court) Raipur Rajeev Kumar found Sanjay Dewangan alias Sanju, a resident of Gabhrapara under Tikrapara police station limits, guilty of molesting a 17-year-old girl and pronounced 2 years RI, informed Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Morisha Naidu.
Besides, the court has imposed Rs 1100 fine on the convict, added SPP Naidu.
SPP Naidu further elaborated that the court has awarded two years RI to the convict under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Rs 1000 fine and two months RI under Section 451 (house-trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) of IPC along with Rs 100 fine. Both the terms will run concurrently.
It may be recalled that in the absence of the victim’s parents, Sanjay lurked into the house of the minor girl on 14 June 2017 and molested her. To save herself, the victim girl locked herself in the bathroom and consumed bathroom cleaner due to a panic situation following which she was rushed to a private hospital. Based on the written complaint of the victim, Tikrapara police booked Sanjay under relevant Sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
