Niti Ayog appreciates critical roles of state

NITI Ayog has highlighted the critical role of states in accelerating economic growth, structural reforms, and improving human development indicators, especially in sectors like health and education.

In order to bring momentum in the economy and development works in the country and states, the Niti Ayog stressed upon the necessity to carry out development works and economic activities on Mission Mode. Addressing a virtual video conferencing meeting with Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to Chief Ministers, Niti Ayog Vice Chairman Dr Rajeev Kumar and CEO Amitabh Kant gave information on significant points and areas pertaining to development works. They said the states will have to prepare an extensive strategy for gaining momentum and bringing reforms in economic activities and development works and implement the same accordingly.

     The virtual video conferencing meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo, Principal Secretary (Planning) Gaurav Dwivedi and other Secretary level officials.

Niti Ayog gave detailed information regarding development of India as a Global Manufacturing Hub, encouraging progressive farming and agriculture, construction of infrastructure, development of human resources, direct approach to services at the grass-root level and regarding extensive improvement in health and nutritional situation. It was also stated that progressive and advanced technology should be used for bringing reforms in these services along with encouraging community participation.

     During the meeting, the Chief Secretaries also gave suggestions towards bringing momentum in development works and on economic reforms. These suggestions will be incorporated by the Niti Ayog in its work plan. It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be chairing the 6th Niti Ayog Governing Council Meeting on February 20, 2021, which will be participated by the Chief Ministers, wherein, state work plans in this direction will be reviewed.
