A Court in Assam’s Hojai district on Wednesday pronounced capital punishment to a man convicted of raping and murdering a 5-year-old girl.
Hojai Additional District and Sessions Judge convicted Vikram Harijan and sentenced him to death. He was convicted under Sections 302, 376 (A) of Indian Penal Code and under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incident had taken place at Daria Basti area of Hojai district on February 27, 2020. Vikram lured the little girl into a forest area by promising her chocolate. Body of the girl was recovered from woods near her home.
