Earthquake tremors felt in Northern parts of India, epicentre at Tajikistan

A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on Richter scale hit Tajikistan-Xinjiang border region and the tremors were felt in the Northern India including the national capital New Delhi as well as Jammu & Kashmir on Friday evening.

 The National Centre for Seismology measured the magnitude of tremors in North India at 6.1 on Richter scale, which hit Amritsar, Punjab at 10:34 pm. Parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Noida, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana were also jolted by the tremors.

The epicentre of the earthquake is reportedly located in Tajikistan at a depth of 74 kilometres with coordinates 38.00 N and 73.58 E.. There was no immediate report of loss of life or property.
