On the pretext of providing housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, about 140 people have been cheated. The police have arrested a man and his who cheated people in the name of providing houses and are being interrogated. Documents related to the cheating were seized after filing a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Police were hoping for more cheating cases committed by the accused. The names of other people associated with this fraud are expected to come to fore during interrogation.

Accused RB Singh Patel and his son Brijendra Singh Patel gad taken Rs 50000 from Ashok Kumar Pandey to get a house for him under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Similarly, the accused had taken Rs 50000 each from about 140 people between the year 2017 and the year 2018 and they were also given a receipt issued from the Municipal Corporation of Rs 20000 each
