Displaying humanitarian approach towards the cadres of banned organisation, who shun the path of violence to join the mainstream of society, police in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh has initiated an unique move and solemnized marriage of around 15 naxal couples on this Valentine’s Day.
The naxal couples, who tied nuptial knot, have quit ‘Red Movement’ between 2019 and 2021.
Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Abhishek Pallava and other authorities were seen actively participated in the marriage ceremony of surrendered cadres. Besides, SP Dr Pallava participated in the marriage procession and celebrated the historic moment by beating traditional tribal musical instruments. It is believed that the move is going to motivate several other cadres to surrender and join mainstream of the society.
According to information received, the surrendered couples, who tied nuptial knot are, Somdu alias Naveen Vetti, a resident of Dantewada, has tied knot with Kumari Jogi Madwi of Sukma; Chanduram Sethiya who surrendered in 2020, was married to Kumari Sonmati, Ajay Kumar Mandavi, surrendered in 2020, was married to Sarita Kashyap, Dulgo Mandavi who surrendered in 2019, tied knot with Kumli Kashyap, Guddu Markam, who surrendered in 2019, entered into wedlock with Bhume Kodopi, Lakhmu Hemal, who surrendered in 2020, married to Munni Veko, Ramesh Sori to Sarita Kunjam, Budhram Kowasi to Raimati Barse, Kamlesh alias Motu Poyami to Dasmi Mandavi, Dinesh alias Maniram Alami to Roshni Kashyap, Hadma Madkam to Laxmi Vetti, Manku Poyami to Soni Vekko, Vikas to Munni Vetti, Baman Mandavi to Hurrey Markam and Harendra Mandavi was married to Shanti Sori.
As per information received, the marriage programme was held as a part of Mukhyamanti Kanya Vivah Yojana. The newly-wed couples were provided with gift items worth Rs 25000 under the scheme. Besides, cheque of Rs 10000 was also given to them under Lon Varratu campaign.
